Major Peewee AA: Cumberland Jr. Grads vs. Markham Islanders, 1:50pm

Minor Atom B/A: West Ferris ACT-UCT vs. Cumberland Grads White, 4:30pm

For division finalization, the tournament coordinators review all game sheets and use this information to ensure a completely accurate playoff picture.

We’re also excited to host a couple of quarterfinal games tonight in the Major Peewee AA Division: First, 4th Place takes on 5th Place at 7:35, and then 3rd Place takes on 6th Place at 7:50. The rest of the playoff games will take place tomorrow, on Championship Sunday.

We’re just a few hours away from finalizing our first division, so keep checking this website for the most up-to-date info!

Furious Action on Faceoff Friday

After a day full of exciting action here at the Bell Sensplex, it’s clear that the second weekend of the Capital Winter Classic is shaping up to be great one! The atom and peewee edition of the tournament began early this morning with a local showdown between the RWC Crusaders and our host Kanata Blazers, and didn’t slow down (despite the bitterly cold weather) until the final buzzer of a Major Peewee AA battle between the RSL Kings and West Ferris Trappers. Make sure to check Pointstreak for all the updated scores and player stats!

Faceoff Friday was definitely memorable, with great games at every level, and there are some special performances that we'd like to acknowledge:

  • Four goalies in the Major Peewee B/A division registered shutouts today, as Noah Bascelli, Caleb Ursu, Allan Millerwood, and Alexis Freeman-Picard were all unbeatable between the pipes. (Erik Krepps, Elio Dicorato, and Joshua Ward also recorded clean sheets in other divisions.)

  • Austin Walker of the Cumberland Jr. Grads Major Peewee AA team had two game-winning goals today to power his team to a perfect record thus far.

  • Aaron McArdle has scored at even strength (a game-winner), on the powerplay, and shorthanded in his OVSS Minor Peewee A team’s two wins thus far in the Capital Winter Classic.

  • Rory Graham of the Mississippi Thunder Kings Minor Peewee B team leads the tournament with four assists heading into Saturday morning.

With 6 levels, 56 teams, and 113 games set for this weekend, there’s a lot of hockey still to come. Playoff spots are on the line tomorrow, so get ready for a day filled with scoreboard watching, some basic math (goal ratio can be tricky), and plenty of great games!

Scoreboard Saturday begins at 8 AM tomorrow with a Major Atom B/A matchup between the Scarborough Ice Raiders and the Ottawa West Golden Knights. Be back here bright and early so you don’t miss any of the action!

Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @Sensplex for tournament pictures and information, and come say “hi” at the tournament registration desk!

We look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow!
